Gaps In Your Wellness

This time of year we usually are evaluating our habits and setting goals for better health, weight loss and life improvement. 2021 has us in entirely new territory as the pandemic has greatly affected our daily routines and lives. It's easy to waste a lot of time and money on fitness classes, diets, and self-help programs that aren't right for you if you are disconnected from yourself, leading to frustration and feeling like shit.

Here is some simple advice to help you figure out what classes and programs to invest in this year based on YOUR true needs so you can achieve your goals:

1- Split yourself into 4 parts of health: Physical. Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual

2-Look at where you spend most of your energy, either trying to improve an area or where you have good habits in place to manage it.

3-Are you better in some of the 4 areas of health than others?

Example 1:

Most of us are pretty good about 1 or 2 of these health areas. Let's say you like to exercise, that's great for your physical health department and also helps with stress in your mental department. Your New Year's resolutions probably included more physical based goals. These goals are meant to help you feel better as a WHOLE and, sometimes you feel like it's just not working or you keep missing your goal marks or giving up.

KEY: This is because we are more comfortable sticking with the 1 or 2 health areas we are better at and we tend to neglect the other 2. The way to actually feel better and feel more whole health is to get out of our comfort zone and work on the 2 neglected areas. This type of person would benefit from exploring their emotional department and their purpose in life department (spiritual) by Investing in therapy and career mentorships this year to feel better rather than more gym memberships, losing more weight, etc.

Example 2:

Let's say you want to lose weight. Yes, more exercise and eating better would definitely help you to feel better and having more of the body type you want would feel nice BUT, look at your 4 health areas first.

KEY: If you neglect your mental and emotional areas and are stressed out all the time, you're more likely to binge eat and are more likely to be so tired that your motivation to exercise decreases quickly. If you are only putting energy into your physical department of losing weight and avoiding the other 2 areas, it will be a huge struggle. The spiritual department is a big one here as well..... Are you subconsciously assuming that with the weight loss your career and romantic relationships would be better and you would automatically feel more whole? Delve into your life purpose area and see -if you can achieve your life goals AND lose weight, not IF you lose weight-

It's not easy looking in the mirror and seeing that we've put all our energy into one place expecting major results and it can feel so awkward trying to explore our neglected health areas but if you push through that initial urge to go back to your comfort zone, you WILL feel a difference from the inside out. A more balanced body and mind accelerates your health and helps you to feel better no matter what is going on.

This self-check can be difficult so feel free to book a consult with me to sort out what will work best for you this year and we can get you on the right track!
